Danida Fellowship Centre welcomes Master’s students from Africa under Denmark’s new Africa strategy

26-08-24

As part of the Danish government’s new strategy to strengthen its engagement with African countries, Africa’s Century, Danida Fellowship Centre is excited to welcome 17 new Master’s students from Africa in August 2024.

This initiative reflects Denmark’s commitment to building stronger ties and equal partnerships with the countries in Africa, and to promoting sustainable development across the African continent. In February 2025, we anticipate the arrival of 13 additional Master’s students, further expanding this partnership and reaching a total of 30 Master’s scholarships granted in 2024.

The new Master’s students are all young professionals. They are partners in Denmark’s strategic sector cooperation programmes in Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa, and part of a shared commitment to address global challenges.

In Denmark, they will pursue advanced degrees in fields critical to global sustainability, including sustainable and renewable energy, urban planning, climate change and environmental engineering, and many more at the Technical University of Denmark, the University of Copenhagen, Roskilde University, Aalborg University and the University of Southern Denmark.

We extend a warm welcome to our new Master’s students and look forward to following their journeys.

On 26 August, the new strategy “Africa’s century” for Denmark’s engagement with African countries was presented by the two Danish ministers Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy.
