Congratulations to our recently graduated Danida Master’s students
Two years ago, a group of Danida supported Master’s students arrived in Denmark from Bangladesh, Indonesia and South Africa. They were eager to learn and also determined to use the opportunity that the programme provided to address some of the challenges faced by their home countries. They graduated this summer.

When you chose your personal field of study, you are most likely motivated by a problem you want to solve or a change you hope to bring about. This was the case for the students who came to Denmark in 2023 to join Danida Fellowship Centre’s Master’s Scholarship programme in Sustainable Energy, Environmental and Resource Management, Food Innovation and Health, Risk and Safety Management, and Urban Planning and Management.
Although their areas of expertise are diverse, they all reflect the thematic focus of Denmark’s Strategic Sector Cooperation in their home countries.
Now that they have graduated, we extend our congratulations to all of them! Meet five of them below:

“I wish I could carry pollution free air from Denmark to Bangladesh. I’m planning to pursue a Ph.D and now practicing my Master studies through inspecting different types of factories in my country, as a safety inspector. I’m hoping to author a comprehensive volume that examines the spectrum of risks encountered during such inspections and their management. These two years have been a treasured memory throughout my life.” Mr Mohammed Al Helal, Bangladesh

“My Master’s journey in Denmark has been full of growth, laughter, and friendships that I will carry with me for life. What I valued most was the openness to share ideas and challenge perspectives, which inspired me to stay curious and creative. I leave with gratitude, a sense of confidence, and the excitement to keep exploring new ideas wherever life takes me.” Mr Rangga Gaus, Indonesia

“Studying at Aalborg University and interning with VANA (Waste Management Service) gave me valuable insights into Extended Producer Responsibility and Producer Responsibility Organisations, while my thesis on Deposit Return Systems for PET (type of clear, durable and versatile plastic) bottles provided practical tools for implementation. I’m returning to Indonesia with hope to adapt these lessons, strengthen packaging waste policies and help prevent waste from polluting our environment.” Ms Eka Hilda Utami Lasmanatun, Indonesia

“Having reached the end of my Master’s degree, I take with me the sense of community that Danida Fellowship Centre fosters among fellows. I also take with me the lessons learnt in sustainability strategy and hope for opportunities where I can contribute to impactful initiatives towards a sustainable future.” Ms Mpumalanga Mnyekemfu, South Africa

“My time in Copenhagen has been truly enriching, both personally and professionally. I leave with a heart full of gratitude for the memories, the people I’ve met, and all that I have learned. I’m excited to return home and contribute to advancing sustainable water and energy projects in South Africa. Vi ses, København!” Ms Deshanya Naidoo, South Africa
