From Insights to Action: Everyday Humanitarianism in Tanzania

The Everyday Humanitarianism in Tanzania (EHTZ) research project recently hosted a dissemination event in Dar es Salaam. It showcased key findings from five years of research on how Tanzanian communities independently navigate crises, offering insights into local resilience and the importance of collaborative research.

Bridging Research and Action

The Everyday Humanitarianism in Tanzania (EHTZ) project explores how Tanzanians cope with crises through local networks and resources, without relying on external aid. Scholars from both Tanzania and Denmark have collaborated over the past five years to examine these community-driven responses, aiming to provide actionable insights that can influence broader humanitarian practices. A recent event in Dar es Salaam marked the culmination of this work, providing a platform to share findings and engage in discussions about the role of local resilience in shaping future crisis response strategies.

A Gathering of Diverse Voices

The From Insights to Action: Everyday Humanitarianism in Tanzania event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including scholars, policymakers, and NGO representatives. A highlight of the event was the participation of Jesper Kammersgaard, the Danish Ambassador to Tanzania, who delivered a short speech on the importance of international collaboration in addressing global challenges.

Discussions during the event highlighted the power of diverse perspectives. NGO representatives shared their on-the-ground experiences with crisis response, while policymakers provided insights into how government support can foster local resilience. Researchers presented evidence to inform these conversations, underscoring the importance of collaboration between local knowledge, government, and NGOs in creating sustainable solutions to humanitarian challenges.
