The ability to find and manage research funds effectively is crucial for all researchers.

After the launch of More Women in Research. Learn and Lead Together on 11 March, we are now happy to invite you to join the first module of our common learning journey “Get Funding: Understanding Research Grants.”

This module equips women researchers with the tools, knowledge and confidence to navigate grant-funded projects successfully.

Module highlights

Kick-off on 5 March 2026 – Funding for research – live storytelling session
Time:
2.00–4.00 pm (CET) | 4.00–6.00 pm (East Africa) | 8.00–10.00 pm (Vietnam) | 7.00–9.00 am (Mexico)

Register now to join this interactive session featuring women researchers who will share their funding journeys, challenges and strategies for success. Guest speakers include

The session will also introduce you to a supportive community of practice and connect you with peers for ongoing exchange and collaboration.

Self-paced lessons – 5 weeks during March/April 2026
On 5 March, you will be introduced to the Mawazo Institute’s learning platform and will learn how to access the self-paced lessons:

  • Lesson 1 Top Excel features for research budgeting
  • Lesson 2 Top ten tips for budgeting and financial management

These lessons will provide you with practical skills for organising financial data, preparing budgets, and tracking project finances effectively.

Wrapping up on 8 April 2026 – Funding dos and don’ts for researchers – live session
The module concludes with a live panel discussion featuring grant management experts who will share real-world lessons, common pitfalls and strategies for success. This session offers an opportunity to ask questions, discuss scenarios, and consolidate your learning so you can navigate research funding with confidence.
