LinkedIn updates Decarbonization, Energy Efficiency and New Green Solutions in Shipping

12-02-25

Taking its starting point in the IMO’s 2023 Strategy on Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Ships, this Danida-funded learning programme addresses the global challenge of decarbonizing the shipping and port sectors by 2050 focusing on environmental, social, and economic aspects of this transition.

The learning programme happened in November 2024 (4-22), and included several field trips to a wide variety of public and private organizations in Denmark, which work with decarbonization in shipping and ports. During the field trips, participants met peers from the Danish Maritime Authorities, shipping companies, ports, and technology providers, who are involved in international regulation, innovating ship designs and ship operations, and who work with energy efficiency measures.

They discussed their own experiences from their home countries with the Danish peers and saw a wide range of demonstration projects for decarbonization. This also included working on and receiving feedback on an action plan for how participants intend to engage their new learnings, once back to their home organisation.

In this article, we collected the participants´ and learning providers´ experiences as they lived it through their eyes. Read more by clicking on this LinkedIn updates from our learning community:
