The Regional Water Dialogue Series – DanLat Network

An example of activities driven by the national networks is how the Danida Fellows Networks in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico) have successfully concluded a collaborative initiative to deliver a Regional Dialogue Series on Water Issues, which was a fully self-organised series of events, delivered virtually in the period August – November 2024. The four networks each took turns to organize and deliver a session, and the series was made up of the following events:
- August, Danida Fellows Network Brazil: “Psychology’s Contribution to Flood Risk Management”
- September, Danida Alumni Network Argentina: “Water Footprint and virtual water export as drivers of the coming economy. Threat or opportunity for Latin America?”
- November, Danida Alumni Network Colombia: “Water Management in Bogotá”
- November, Danida Alumni Network Mexico: “Water, pork production and related themes

28 November 2024: The fourth session of the Water Dialogue Series. Cámara Argentina del Agua (CAA) contributed through the panel “Water as a driver of the global economy: opportunities for Latin America”. The intervention focused on addressing the water footprint and virtual water applied to agriculture, livestock, energy and other key sectors of the economy.
13 November 2024: The third session of the Water Dialogue Series. Experts from the Bogota´Water Company (EAAB) explained the background to the challenge of shortage of precipitation in the areas of influence that supply water to the Capital of Colombia.
25 September 2024: The second session of the Water Dialogue Series. The Latin American Network of Danida Fellows explored two crucial concepts: Water Footprint and Virtual Water Export, building towards a proposal with global impact. This event was organized by the Water Expert Group of the Latin American Network of Danida Fellows, Denmark. Expert: Gonzalo Meschengieser, CEO of the Camara Argentina del Agua.
21 August 2024: The first event of the DANLat Platform (Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico) to exchange knowledge on water-related issues. Expert: Camila Pozzer, Psychology expert in Security Risk Management and Compliance in Brazil.
