Get involved. Make youth voices heard at the People’s Meeting in Bornholm, Denmark, 2024

11-06-24

Join us in welcoming Danida Fellowship Centre’s “Empowerment of Youth to Influence SDG Implementation” learning programme participants to ”the People’s Meeting” Folkemødet 2024 – in Bornholm, Denmark

Once again, the learning programme participants will be taking part in what is Denmark’s annual democracy festival. They will be actively engaging in debates on international issues and making their young voices heard.

Twenty-one young leaders from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Mali, South Africa, South Sudan and Burundi are joining the programme. They include East African Community Youth Ambassadors and members of the Danish embassies’ Youth Sounding Boards in Mali, South Africa, Uganda and Kenya. Read more.

You are invited to meet these inspiring individuals at the festival’s “Verdensmålenes Plads”. Discover how they integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their work and engage in discussions about youth participation in SDG implementation. For a foretaste, check out last year’s event videos here

But the Peoples Meeting is just the beginning. After their stay in Denmark, these young leaders have a broader mission and that is to implement their action plans and drive sustainable change in their communities.

Beatrice Marandu, Project Coordinator of YouLead Africa and one of the East African Community Youth Ambassadors and other Danida Fellows, will be sharing their work on SDGs and their future plans for SDG implementation.

Watch their inspiring journey as they shape the future.
