Danida Fellowship Centre co-operates closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs defines the framework for the capacity development activities of the Danida programmes and projects, Danida Fellowship Centre is in charge of all educational, administrative, social, cultural and practical issues in connection with a fellow’s study in Denmark and in partner countries.
In relation to development research, Danida Fellowship Centre is responsible for the practical administration of all ongoing projects, including disbursements, accounts and reports, and the practical part of the annual round of applications to the Consultative Research Committee for Development Research. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the political and strategic aspects, including the overall contact to research centres, institutions and networks in Denmark and abroad.
In addition Danida Fellowship Centre coordinates the Danida Alumni Network, which is a unique global network of highly qualified individuals with a special connection to Denmark. Danida alumni personalise the outcome of Denmark’s support to development research and the training and capacity development of partners in low-income and emerging economies.
Danida Fellowship Centre’s highest organ is the Board of Directors consisting of 3 members who are appointed for a three-year period, plus an employee representative. You can find the statutes (in Danish) here.
Danida Fellowship Centre employs 20 permanent staff members. In addition, Danida Fellowship Centre employs app. eight Danish students (junior staff) who are attached to the fellowship activities.
