15:30 – 16:25 Presentation of the study: “Opportunities, challenges – and bad weather: Experiences and reflections of African researchers involved in Danida funded research capacity building 1989-2019” by the authors Lene Møller Madsen, University of Copenhagen and Hanne Kirstine Adriansen, Aarhus University. Discussants: Associate Professor Faustin Maganga, St John’s University of Tanzania and Professor Anders Breidlid, Oslo Metropolitan University. This session is part of the 5th Joint Nordic Conference on Development Research: Open Panel 3, “Contributions from research capacity building and research partnerships in and with the South & future perspectives”.

17:00 – 17:30 The Danida Alumni Prize 2019 will be awarded to an alum, who – based on their Danida funded studies – has contributed to positive change in their home country or area of employment, as a result of research-based achievements.

Trine Rask Thygesen, State Secretary for Development Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will present the Danida Alumni Prize 2019 to Dr Phan Thi Van, Director, Research Institute for Aquaculture No 1, Vietnam. Read more about Dr Phan Thi Van here.
