1. Data Processing Purposes
Danida Fellowship Centre collects and processes personal information from users of the websites and social media platforms in order to:
a. Provide user functionality on our websites;
b. Improve your user experience on our web based platforms and services;
c. Survey our market position, using anonymized personal data (e.g. monitor ranking in search results).
Beyond the above purposes, we will only process your personal information if you have granted your explicit consent for its stated purpose.
2. Log Files and Cookies
As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer websites, to track users’ movements around websites and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personal information.
a. Required cookies are used to enable core functionality of the websites (e.g. access to login protected sections of the websites).
Opt-out: Your browser may be configured to disable required cookies from our website, however this is likely to reduce the functionality of the website.
Opt-out: To disable data processing for analytical purposes, you may use the “Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on” or similar browser extension.
3. Types of Personal Data Processed and Retention
Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
Via the Danida Alumni Network website, Danida Fellowship Centre collects and uses the following personal data, should you choose to submit it to us:
a. Name, email address, gender, country of citizenship, residence, details about your affiliation with Danida Fellowship Centre (e.g. information about Master/PhD/short course/study stay) as well as your work experience (year of employment/recruitment, employer, job sector, country and work area).
Via the Danida Research Portal, personal data submitted by project coordinators via forms on efond, such as: project contact names and supervisor names are processed.
Personal data processed in conjunction with development research projects funded by Danida are retained and displayed publicly for perpetuity or until consent may be withdrawn.
b. Other information that you have provided yourself while contacting us or via an online survey.
As previously stated, we also collect data sent by your web browser, such as browser name/version, IP, ISP and operating system.
Data submitted on our websites are retained in our records until you should revoke your consent, either by unsubscribing or contacting Danida Fellowship Centre directly. This data will be stored for as long as necessary. There is a possibility that we may process this data for statistical purposes, but in that case it will always be anonymized. You are entitled to know what information we are processing about you and object to the use of the information at any time. We treat your data with care. This means that we undertake measures to prevent disclosure, unauthorized access or alternative processing of our customer’s data collected on this website. From May 25th 2018 onwards, data aggregated via Google Analytics is retained for 50 months.
4. Data Recipients
We will never sell your personal data to third-parties and we do not share your data, except as described here.
We do use third party services to process personal data for us, such as for hosting our websites, building web statistics and providing our email newsletter services. These third-party data processors are sometimes located outside the E.U.
Our websites may also include social media share or like buttons, provided by LinkedIn, Facebook or similar third party social media platforms. Data collected this way is strictly governed by the privacy policies of the respective social media networks.
Our websites contain links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by Danida Fellowship Centre. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy of each and every website that collects personal information.
5. Emails and Newsletters
If you have given us your email for purposes of communication or promotion, we will use your data to contact you. If you give your consent to receive email newsletters from Danida Fellowship Centre or Danida Alumni Network, you may revoke your consent by clicking on an unsubscribe link in the bottom of an email newsletter or by contacting Danida Alumni Network or Danida Fellowship Centre directly.
If you consent to receive our email newsletters, we will automatically track data about opening of indvidual emails and clicks on links in a newsletter, to help us improve the relevance of our email based services to you.
6. Your Rights and Our Contact Information
Should you request so, we will provide you with insight as to whether and what personal information we retain in relation to you. In case your personal data should be incorrect, you may have it updated with your correct information. At any time, you may revoke your consent to use your personal data in the future (in whole or in parts). You may request deletion of your personal data, like you may edit or delete your user account on our website, if you have created one.
