University Partnerships
Knowledge and Innovation Programme
The Knowledge and Innovation Programme was launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Higher Education and Science in 2025. The objective of the programme is to enable collaborative learning and innovation for African and Danish universities in joint networks, and skills development for African and Danish students addressing shared global challenges.
Partnership projects Call
African and Danish university partnerships can apply for partnership projects or for seed funding to develop a partnership project application.
Erasmus+ actions support
Danish universities and other Higher Education Institutions can apply for three funding opportunities linked to EU’s ERASMUS+ programmes.
The Programme and its funding possibilities
The Knowledge and Innovation Programme presents a funding opportunity for equitable partnerships between African and Danish universities.
The programme supports partnerships between universities in Africa and Denmark, oriented toward addressing shared global challenges from diverse perspectives, as well as student mobility from Africa to Denmark. The programme also includes support linked to EU’s ERASMUS+ actions. These support options are accessible to universities and other Higher Education Institutions in Denmark.
Research activities cannot be funded under the programme.
Grants for partnership projects will be awarded based on annual calls for applications in 2025, 2026 and 2027 respectively. Approximately 40% of the activity budget was granted in the first application round completed in 2025. It is expected that the remaining 60% of the budget for university partnership projects will be divided equally between the 2026 and 2027 calls.
Applications for funding are submitted via Danida Fellowship Centre’s online application portal, SurveyMonkey Apply. The Danida Fellowship Centre manages the Knowledge and Innovation Programme on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
