University partnerships

Strengthened partnerships and capacities, networks and collaborative learning at higher education and university level are the prime objectives of the two major university cooperation programmes managed by Danida Fellowship Centre.

Knowledge and Innovation Programme

The Knowledge and Innovation Programme promotes collaboration between African and Danish higher learning institutions to address global development challenges through knowledge and innovation. The programme contributes to strengthened partnerships and mutual understanding and supports the Danish Government’s strategy “Africa’s Century”.

Launched in 2025, the programme is open to applications from higher education institutions. Calls are announced here and on Danida Fellowships Centre's platforms and newsletter.

Building Stronger Universities

Building Stronger Universities is a long-term capacity development programme centred on institutional strengthening and academic collaboration between Danish and African universities. The programme focuses on enhancing organisational, academic and research capacities involving the Danish universities and three partner universities in Uganda, Tanzania and Somaliland. Currently in its fourth phase, this university programme is not eligible for applications
