The policies and priorities of the Danish government determine Danida Fellowship Centre's thematic and geographic focus and the cross-cutting challenges we adress. Our interventions are designed to support projects and programmes funded by Danida, the term used for Danish development cooperation.
Our mandate is to
Support development research and strengthen research capacity, including research engagement and outreach for uptake.
Support partnerships between African and Danish higher education institutions through the Knowledge and Innovation and the Building Stronger Universities programmes.
Design, manage and implement learning activities and support organisational and systemic change in countries collaborating with Denmark through Danish development cooperation.
Support networks for alumni and partners, including the Danida Fellows Network.
Share lessons learned from all our activities through our communication with stakeholders in Denmark and abroad
Danida Fellowship Centre is a self-governing institution. The Board of Directors is our governing body.
Our chairperson is Ulla Tørnæs, former Minister for Development Cooperation and former Minister of Education.
Since 2023, Danida Fellowship Centre has joined forces with the training institution MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation, in Tanzania, in a unique partnership named “Together for Impact”.
The purpose of the partnership between the two experienced training institutions is to strengthen the impact of the learning activities and to help the participants bring the knowledge they gain into practice.
Danida Fellowship Centre is a public self-governing institution. Its highest organ is the Board of Directors consisting of six members, who are appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark for a three-year period, plus a staff representative.
