Research grants

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides grants for development research as part of Denmark's international development cooperation. The overall objective of Danish funding for development research is to enhance research capacity and support high-quality research in Danida’s partner countries. This research aims to generate the evidence needed to address sustainable development challenges and inform decision-making by policymakers and other users of research outputs.

ANNUAL CALL FOR RESEACH APPLICATIONS

Each year, we launch an open call for research grant applications. The application process is conducted in two phases:

Phase 1:  A prequalification round for the submission of project ideas

Phase 2:  A final round for the submission of full applications by the projects that prequalified

All proposals are reviewed by the Consultative Research Committee for Development Research, ensuring scientific quality and relevance.
Danida Fellowship Centre administers the application rounds for research projects and manages research support, including the monitoring of project implementation. As part of our support, we administer study and research stays in Denmark for researchers and PhD students.
