Security in research projects

Heightened security considerations pose a challenge in a number of the countries involved in research projects, at both national and regional level.

It is a requirement for all new project applications to include a risk assessment and, if relevant, mitigating measures and contingency planning pertaining to the physical safety of involved project participants from Denmark and partnering countries.

This page contains information related to the application and implementation of security measures in Danida funded research projects.

Also included is an example that can be used as inspiration for relevant safety measures that can be considered by projects operating in high risk settings or -fields of research.

Celebrating ten years of Danida Fellows Network with a song

Ten years ago, in 2016, we launched the Danida Fellows Network. It came in response to a strong and consistent request from the more than 1,000 fellows that annually attend our learning courses supporting the development programmes under Danida and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.The request was echoed by the hundreds of Master’s and PhD students, and researchers from Danida partner countries working alongside their Danish colleagues in long-standing research collaborations.The closure of this year’s Danida Fellows Network Leaders Convening was celebrated with a song composed especially for the occasion by Danida fellow Prateek Kumawat from India. It is entitled ‘We are the Danida fellows’ and it is a fitting tribute to a network built on collaboration, creativity, and a shared ambition to make a positive and long-lasting difference.By Prateek Kumawat

A journey of youth leadership empowerment and SDG action

The learning course “Empowerment of Youth to Influence SDG Implementation” brings together young leaders from across Africa to strengthen their capacity to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their local and regional contexts. The non-profit 2030beyond has been involved in the course since its inception in 2023 in collaboration with partners in Denmark and various Africa countries.
