Africa’s largest Youth Leadership Forum, the YouLead Summit, convenes its seventh annual gathering for the first time in Nairobi, Kenya, from 20th to 24th November, 2023 under the theme “Youth Empowerment through Capacity Building: Revitalizing Youth Voice and Agency towards the Africa We Want.”

The 2023 Summit convenes National, Regional, and Continental-level Policymakers alongside youth leaders from various movements, academic institutions, private sector representatives, and the greater civil society fraternity. 

The gathering will place a premium on devising homegrown and solution-based approaches to critical development issues such as the political implications of the demographic bulge, limited access to socioeconomic opportunities and how these impact the prospects of young people. 

The 2023 YouLead Summit will be co-convened by former President of the United Republic of Tanzania and the YouLead Africa Patron, His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, and the Secretary-General for the East African Community, Hon. Dr. Peter Mathuki. 

The YouLead Summit 2023 is more than an annual convening; it is a catalyst for plugging young people into emerging markets and the opportunities they present, as well as a platform for advancing entrepreneurship and public policy alternatives with a youth-centric focus. This year’s edition is aligned with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

Key highlights of the Summit include the Under 40 Political Leaders Forum, the Under 40 Business Leaders’ Forum, the Gender Equality Forum, the Nairobi Debates, and the Peace Forum. 

The 2023 Summit is convened by East Africa Community (EAC), MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MSTCDC), Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), the East Africa Youth Ambassadors Platform and other Partners and will take place at Bomas of Kenya. 

Danida Fellowship Centre is a partner of YouLead  through the partnership Together for Impact between MS TCDC and Danida Fellowship Centre.
