Supporting Denmark’s global energy cooperation

Climate change presents global challenges, with energy playing a central role. Around 20 per cent of Danida Fellowship Centre’s learning activities therefore focus on energy. This newsletter highlights selected examples, showing how our activities support Danida fellows and strengthen Denmark’s collaboration with global partners under the Strategic Sector Cooperation.

Offshore wind in focus

At the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), researchers work continuously to advance the science and practice of renewable energy, including offshore wind. Each year, Danida Fellowship Centre shares this expertise with professionals from around the world through the “Offshore wind Energy” course. It focuses on understanding offshore wind technology, planning wind farms, and preparing new offshore wind areas.

Modelling energy systems for the future

As countries move towards low-carbon, affordable and reliable energy solutions, planning becomes more important than ever. In the learning course “Energy systems modelling using Balmorel”, the participants learn how to design smarter and more sustainable energy systems.

Making renewable energy work in real life

Imagine having solar panels on your rooftop or a wind farm nearby. How does that energy reach homes, schools and businesses? Get key take-aways from Danida fellows who visited Energinet as part of our “Renewable Energy Integration in Power Systems” course.

The power of a green and flexible grid

At COP30 in Belém, Emil Ole Emmik Sørensen, head of global cooperation at the Danish Energy Agency, talked to journalists from South Africa, Kenya and Brazil about how Denmark has advanced its renewable energy transition and what lessons might be useful for other countries.
