In September 2024, we reported on the bold steps Bogotá Municipality has taken in creating a waste management revolution. Now, it is time to explore how Copenhagen, a global leader in waste management, is inspiring Bogotá and other cities.

Rethinking waste, one reflection at a time
In October 2024, Sandra Marcela Ramirez Ubate, an environmental engineer working with the Superintendencia de Servicios Públicos Domiciliarios, joined the Danida Fellowship Centre’s Solid Waste Management and Technology learning programme that took place in Denmark.

The use of geodata for sustainable urban planning in Bogotá and Copenhagen
Bogotá’s city administration has long been seeking effective tools to achieve its vision of a greener and more sustainable city. A three-day workshop in Bogotá brought together experts from Copenhagen City, Denmark’s Climate Data Agency and Bogotá’s urban planning sector to explore the transformative potential of geodata.
