Visitors during your stay in Denmark

During your stay in Denmark, you may receive visitors under certain conditions. Danida Fellowship Centre provides guidelines to ensure that all visits are arranged responsibly and without interfering with your study or accommodation arrangements. Please read the information below carefully before making any plans to host visitors.

IN COPENHAGEN

If you are participating in one of our shorter learning activities (less than six weeks), Danida Fellowship Centre recommends that you do not receive visitors from abroad.

During longer stays in Denmark (over six weeks), adult visitors are welcome, provided that they make all their own arrangements and cover all the costs related to their visit themselves, including their flight tickets, insurance, visa and accommodation.

Danida Fellowship Centre recommends you to arrive alone initially and to take some time to familiarise yourself with life and conditions in Denmark before receiving any visitors.

You are not allowed to have anyone living with you in the accommodation provided by Danida Fellowship Centre, but you are welcome to have adult visitors staying with you for short periods of time. Please read the following guidelines on visits.

VISITOR GUIDELINES

Children below the age of 18 are not allowed to join you during your study stay in Denmark. The accommodation is not suitable for young children, and there are no childcare arrangements in the Danida Fellowship Centre learning activities.

Spouses or other close adult visitors are welcome, provided they make  all the arrangements and cover the costs related to their visit themselves, including flight tickets, insurance, visa and accommodation.
In Copenhagen, the accommodation for visitors can be either at a hostel or at a hotel.

If you are staying at the Danida Fellowship Centre hostel, you have to inform the Danida Fellowship Centre’s reception about any visitors staying in your room. A partner, spouse or close relative’s visit cannot exceed one month in the Danida Fellowship Centre hostel, and friends and other visitors may stay with you for a maximum of one week. The rooms are one-room studios with a single bed and bedding for only one person. Danida Fellowship Centre does not provide extra bedding for visitors.

If you are staying at a hotel, you may be able to make an arrangement directly with the hotel upon extra payment. Note that this will be at your own expense and your agreement must be kept separate from Danida Fellowship Centre’s agreement with the hotel.

If you do not stay in Copenhagen, other types of accommodation may be made available to you.

Please note: The above rules and recommendations only apply to Danida fellows. If you rent a room at the Danida Fellowship Centre hostel independently, visitors are not allowed.
