Danish development policy is moving towards a stronger focus on knowledge, innovation, investment and partnerships with the ambition of creating value for both partner countries and Denmark.
This approach is already at the heart of Danida Fellowship Centre’s work. We believe development happens through collaboration, and that knowledge, ideas and solutions can flow in both directions.
In this newsletter, we highlight examples from the Knowledge and Innovation Programme, which brings Danish and African universities together, and the Financially Locally Led Climate Action Programme (FLLoCA), which aims to strengthen locally led climate adaptation in Kenya by bringing together local communities, public institutions and private sector partners.
We also look at Denmark’s support to the Urban and Municipal Development Fund (UMDF) under the African Development Bank, and how its work to strengthen urban planning in Africa can also generate knowledge and opportunities relevant to Denmark.
What connects these stories is simple. Today’s challenges are global and too complex for any one country or sector to solve alone. When we develop solutions together, the benefits go both ways.
