2024 Annual Report And results

2024 was a busy year for Danida Fellowship Centre. We launched new initiatives and continued supporting Denmark’s strategic sector cooperation. The Danish government’s Africa’s Century strategy, launched in 2024, aligns with our existing work in knowledge exchange, mutual learning, and collaboration through our programmes, research grants, and the Danida Fellows Network of global professionals.

RESEARCH IN NUMBERS 2024

Denmark allocates approximately 200 million DKK annually to development research projects. These projects engage Danish researchers in partnerships with counterparts in Danida-supported countries across the Global South. Explore the scope of these projects, their locations, and key figures focusing on the themes green transition and gender equality.

Celebrating ten years of Danida Fellows Network with a song

Ten years ago, in 2016, we launched the Danida Fellows Network. It came in response to a strong and consistent request from the more than 1,000 fellows that annually attend our learning courses supporting the development programmes under Danida and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.The request was echoed by the hundreds of Master’s and PhD students, and researchers from Danida partner countries working alongside their Danish colleagues in long-standing research collaborations.The closure of this year’s Danida Fellows Network Leaders Convening was celebrated with a song composed especially for the occasion by Danida fellow Prateek Kumawat from India. It is entitled ‘We are the Danida fellows’ and it is a fitting tribute to a network built on collaboration, creativity, and a shared ambition to make a positive and long-lasting difference.By Prateek Kumawat

The Together for Impact partnership between Danida Fellowship Centre and MS TCDC has strengthened the reach of both organisations’ communications by combining their audiences for joint storytelling and shared engagement activities. A journey of youth leadership empowerment and SDG action

The learning course “Empowerment of Youth to Influence SDG Implementation” brings together young leaders from across Africa to strengthen their capacity to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their local and regional contexts. It promotes mutual learning and shared action. The non-profit 2030beyond has been involved in the course since its inception in 2023 in collaboration with partners in Denmark and various Africa countries. The Together for Impact partnership between MS TCDC and Danida Fellowship Centre supports development practitioners in strengthening the skills needed to turn plans into meaningful results. Through a series of professional courses, over 150 Danida fellows have deepened their practice in leadership, results management, policy engagement and communicating development results since the launch of the partnership in 2022.
