Development Research Grants – Call 2022

The new Call for applications for development research grants supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark/Danida is now open.

Call for applications 2022 – Phase 1. Deadline 25/2-2022 – 13:00 (CET)

Denmark’s Strategy for Development Cooperation “The World We Share” constitutes the thematic framework for the Call. In this Strategy research collaboration between Danish universities and the research community in the Global South is emphasized as important to generate knowledge and capacity as well as to contribute to creativity and innovation.

The overall theme of the Call is “climate change, nature and the environment”. Eligible countries for research are selected amongst countries with expanded and targeted development cooperation with Denmark. In the case of the latter, the themes for research are aligned with the Strategic Sector Cooperation in these countries.

The deadline for submission of Phase 1 (prequalification) applications is 25 February 2022 at 13:00hrs CET. Those prequalified in Phase 1 will be invited to make a fully-fledged project proposal in Phase 2 of the application round. The projects selected for funding can start in early 2023.

The total allocation available for development research funding in 2022 is approximately DKK 200 million. Funding is conditional on approval by the Danish Parliament of the 2022 Finance Bill. The expected duration of research projects is up to 5 years within a maximum grant of DKK 10 million for a project.
