Get Funded: Understanding Research Grants

Women driving change in leadership and research

Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, Danida Fellowship Centre wishes to spotlight some of our efforts to strengthen women in leadership and research.

Boosting women’s leadership and influence

For the sixth time, Danida Fellowship Centre brought together women leaders - this time in Rio - to participate in its Women’s Leadership learning course. The course is designed to strengthen leadership capacity and drive organisational change. It offers a rare platform for women leaders to connect, share and learn across institutions and countries.

Learn, lead, and navigate research grants

Finding and managing research funds is an essential skill for every researcher. This first module in the More Women in Research learning journey equips women researchers with the tools and confidence to navigate grant-funded projects, beginning with a live session on 5 March followed by self-paced learning.

Crime or cultural identity

Not all research reaches beyond academia and that is why Danida’s research grants support open access. The research project "Gender, Law, and Women’s Rights" published “Norms and Violence Against Women in Ethiopia” as an open-access book, allowing an Ethiopian journalist to read and write about it.

Why we need more women in health research

In a new research paper, the two Danida-funded researchers, Christina Anne Vinter, Ditte Søndergaard Linde and their colleague Lone Kjeld Petersen, show how gender gaps in leadership and research priorities still influence global health.

Bridging rural and urban pathways to climate resilience in Tanzania

PhD researcher Scolastica Mwema studies climate resilience in Tanzania. Drawing on her rural roots and local agricultural knowledge, she explores how gender, age, social networks and rural–urban links shape climate perceptions, impacts and adaptation strategies.
