Universities and research institutions can apply for support to research collaboration projects in selected countries with development cooperation with Denmark. The application must be submitted together with research partners in one or more of the selected countries with development cooperation with Denmark.

Research engagement grants are offered by Danida Fellowship Centre to promote the uptake of research-based knowledge and results and to strengthen the link between Danida-supported researchers and the end users of the research outputs.
These small supplementary grants of a maximum of DKK 80,000 are provided on a competitive basis and are awarded once or twice a year with a total amount of DKK 400,000 available per call. To promote outreach for uptake after the completion of a research project, applications could be submitted by principal investigators of Danida-funded research projects completed within the last two years.

African and Danish universities can in collaboration apply for partnership projects or for seed funding to develop a partnership project. A partnership project consists of partnership activities and scholarships aimed at students from African university partner(s). Seed funding can be used to develop a partnership project application.

The Knowledge and Innovation Programme (KIP) includes an Erasmus+ track that seeks to enhance collaboration between African and Danish Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through three funding opportunities:

Processing time is approximately two months
Grants of up to that support small scale initiatives organised and led by Danida fellows. The initiatives should aim to foster dialogue and collaboration among relevant stakeholders in one’s network on an issue connected to insights gained from a Danida Fellewship Centre learning activity. The grant has a yearly call, usually announced in the first quarter of the year.
