Season’s greetings 2025

At Danida Fellowship Centre, we can all look back once again on a year filled with meaningful encounters, new ideas and inspiring collaborations. We thank our Danida fellows and partners for being part of this year’s journey. Your passion, dedication, curiosity and willingness to exchange knowledge is what makes our work and the learning spaces we create together special.

From learning to action: New strategy 2026–2030

Learning and research continue to be at the heart of our work, with a strong focus on sharing and creating knowledge. Most importantly, we focus on how we can best support our Danida fellows and partners in turning knowledge into practical action.

Warm welcome to our new Board of Directors

We are pleased to welcome our new Board of Directors, appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The new Board will take over from the current board at the beginning of 2026 and will serve a three-year term. The Board is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of Danida Fellowship Centre and for monitoring its implementation.

Knowledge and Innovation Programme: ten projects selected from first call

Innovation, skills development and student mobility are central to the Knowledge and Innovation Programme, launched in June 2025. The first application round closed on 1 October and it attracted considerable interest from universities in both Denmark and across Africa. The selection Committee selected ten proposals for funding.

Development research grants 2025

We are happy to announce that twenty-four research projects have been selected for funding within the thematic focus areas “Climate Change, Environment, Vulnerability and Resilience” and “Health, Well-being and Vulnerability”. The grants will be awarded under the 2026 Finance Bill.

Updated call for development research grants 2026

Please note, that as of 18 December 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has decided that Palestine is no longer included among the eligible countries for the current call for research applications.

New policy brief. Water under pressure

Danida-funded research shows that sustainable water management is not rooted in technical solutions alone. Real and lasting impact only happens when the measures to be taken are decided on the basis of inclusive governance, comprehensive and reliable data, and the local political, institutional and environmental realities.

The promise and pressure of Africa’s urban boom

Africa is urbanising faster than any other region. Danida Fellowship Centre has entered into a three-year agreement with the African Development Bank’s Urban and Municipal Development Fund (UMDF) to deliver learning activities for urban planners and practitioners across the continent. UMDF Coordinator Darline Tognia explains why these activities are essential.

What is social learning and how do you hold social learning spaces?

Social learning is not about one person transmitting information to others. It’s about people learning with and from each other, about something they care to do better. Together with the world-renowned social learning theorists and practitioners Beverly and Etienne Wenger-Trayner, we have developed four new online social learning module.
